The first green library for children in the world, guided by ecological principles for all aspects, from design to programming. When crossing the threshold of the children’s section of Singapore’s Central Public Library, it is like entering an enchanted forest in which the tree house is made of recycled plastic bottles and wood.

The primary school in Rosendale is a beautiful and unusual space dedicated to books, opened in 2001 and with free access during the afternoon. As it was not possible to arrange a library inside the building, a double decker, the typical London bus, was transformed into a place of which the motto is Where reading is fun.

An underground garden, an open-air amphitheatre, a glass pyramid that lights up at night to welcome visitors at the entrance, the Green Square Library in Sydney, opened in September 2018, offers beautiful spaces and above all an area for children filled with books and DVDs, a music room with a baby grand piano, guitars and virtual instruments and, if this is not enough, there are magic shelves, beanbag-shaped armchairs and a life-size plan hanging from the ceiling!

Library of Muyinga – Burundi

unnamed
A place of learning and social encounters, thanks to the large porch, dedicated to the deaf children of Muyinga, Burundi. Created by the belgian group BC architects and studies, involving local economies, inhabitants and products available on site, this wonderful library is even more special thanks to the open-loft and giant rope hammock in which readers can snuggle while enjoying their books.
